A STROUD woman is fundraising to get her dog walking again following a nightmare accident earlier this month.
Owner Sally Williams, from Bussage, is fundraising after Wiz, a Working Cocker Spaniel was injured earlier this month following a freak accident jumping from the boot of her car.
Following the accident Wiz was taken to the vets where he had numerous blood tests, X-rays, ultrasounds and investigations.
In a later MRI scan it was confirmed that Wiz had suffered a Hydrated nucleus pulposus extrusion (HNPE), similar to a slipped disc in humans.
During the scan Wiz was put on life support as he had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Nevertheless, Wiz pulled through and three days later was allowed to go home.
While Wiz is expected to make a full recovery, he is still unable to walk following his accident.
Owner Sally Williams is now asking the community for support to help her look after Wiz.
“Wiz needs constant care and support and needs help to start walking again,” said Sally.
“I have had to take time off work to look after him.
“Throughout all his treatment, his tail still wags and he has amazed veterinary staff and all who meet him.
“Please help me provide the best care and treatment he deserves.
“The costs are overwhelming and I feel drained with worry.
“I need money to continue with his hydrotherapy and then he needs physiotherapy and laser therapy to help his muscles as well as on going to veterinary check ups).
“He is starting to show signs of improvement which is a great relief but he is still unable to walk at the moment.
“I am very grateful to all who have donated, people have been so kind and generous.
“We just need to get going a bit longer to maintain his treatment as it’s a very important stage in his recovery.
“Wiz is the sweetest, kindest little dog and did not deserve this cruel twist of fate.
“I will never give up.”
So far nearly £1,500 has been raised in the GoFundMe campaign.
