LET’S talk about eggs. Apparently there is still a shortage at the poopermarkets but we aren’t experiencing any supply problems on a Saturday. Eggs are available from Overton Organic, Frocester fayre, Newark Farm Organic and Jonathan Crump cheeses.

With duck and goose eggs as well as hens’ eggs on show.

It is pretty well known that eggs are nutrient rich, improve Levels of “Good” Cholesterol, provide a great source of Vitamins D, B6 and B12 and iron. On top of this, as part of a balanced diet, eggs contribute to a healthy digestive tract and can be helpful during acute digestive problems as they are easy to digest compared to some other high-protein foods, such as meat and legumes.

Of course, vegans won’t eat eggs because in many cases the hens or other birds are not given living conditions that offer them a good life.

We have 6 geese on our bit of field and with no male in the group (so no fertilised eggs), the eggs just keep coming and if you don’t remove them from the hutch they will just accumulate and go off.

So there really is nothing better to do that to eat them, make quiche with them, make cakes! We believe all the eggs available at the market come from birds who have a decent life in appropriate living conditions, so you can shop with a clear conscience.

This week, look out for the Cotswold Curer and The Cotswold Scotch Egg Co!
