Nadja Singh, fundraiser at the Sub Rooms said: "We are looking for funding to restore and refurbish the lovely balcony at the Stroud Subscription Rooms.
"It would be really helpful if we could ask readers for any memories/stories/photos of the balcony in use.
"We are already hearing about the school kids from St Rose’s lining the balcony for the visit of Princess Alice, the acclamation of King George , and of Father Christmas turning on the lights.
"We believe there are many more stories and maybe photos out there.
"Having these stories would really help us make the case for funding (I am applying to National Lottery Heritage Fund and similar) by being able to show how important it is to Stroud’s history and community.
"Funding would help us open up the balcony again to be enjoyed for future generations and even to be used for weddings as well as the more traditional uses of town announcements, Christmas festivities etc."
