A NEW restaurant in Wotton is opening next week.

Stroud couple Fred Hulls and Jeremy McGovern have teamed up with Chris Hull to launch a fresh culinary experience at Good Food Kitchen and Bar in Long Street.

Its menu will feature international and classic dishes as well as wine, beer and cocktails.

It comes after the team recently held a successful pop-up night on Saturday, March 2.

Dishes included roasted carrots and hazelnuts with carrot top gremolata, spiced cauliflower steak, whipped feta and pomegranate and chicken and spiced chilli with chicken and chorizo.

Fred and Jeremy previously lived in California for more than eight years and used to cater for TV and movie sets, before launching their own dessert business Eatin’ Mess.

They catered for a charity event held by Seth Rogen and even a birthday party for Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin.

Fred - who is originally from the Stroud area - previously ran Fred's Bar which debuted during the Stroud Fringe Festival in 2015.

Good Food Kitchen and Bar was previously a Barclays bank - which closed in 2015 - before Chris took over the premises in September 2018.

Chris also runs next-door unit Good Food Fruit and Veg which sells a variety of fruit and vegetables also delivering to homes across the area.

The evening menu at Good Food Kitchen and Bar will be seasonal, using ingredients from local businesses in the area.

The team say they also plan to attract more guest chefs and partner with local businesses and suppliers.

The restaurant will initially open for lunch and dinner Thursday to Saturday, with Friday night offering a simple bar menu.

Opening hours will extend as the restaurant builds, with plans for a weekly Palestinian night on Wednesdays starting in April, as well as its lunch offering expanding one day at a time.

"Their dishes have created a buzz around the town"

Chris said: “It’s a joy to partner with Fred and Jeremy who bring a fresh energy to Good Food Kitchen and Bar.

“Their global culinary experience combined with a sharp and deep understanding of the local market mean they are in an ideal position to create success.

“Their pop-up evening was fully booked immediately and the feedback around their dishes has created a buzz around the town.”

An opening night party is due to be held next Thursday, March 21 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Reservations for drinks and dinner are open from Friday, March 22 from Thursday to Saturday.
