STONEHOUSE town councillors will send a letter to Gloucestershire County Council to convey their opposition to the authority’s proposals for revised opening hours at the town’s library.

GCC is currently consulting on the future of the facility, which will remain open for 12 hours a week under new plans.

At a meeting of Stonehouse Town Council on Monday, February 20, members agreed unanimously to draft a letter outlining their objections to the amended opening hours and to voice their displeasure at the nature of the consultation.

Mayor Chris Brine said a ‘stiff letter’ needed to be sent to the county council to inform them of Stonehouse Town Council’s position on the issue.
