KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 0

FOREST GREEN ROVERS 2

FOREST Green’s staggering start to the season shows no signs of flagging as Ady Pennock’s table-toppers made it six wins from six.

The early National League leaders stung struggling Kidderminster Harriers with second half strikes from Keanu Marsh-Brown and sub Jon Parkin to maintain their impeccable start.

Pennock named an unchanged side for the third successive game and brought Marcus Kelly onto the bench in place of Clovis Kamdjo.

Rovers started brightly and caused early mayhem inside the Harriers’ box.

Winger Elliott Frear arrowed in a cross that saw James Jennings and  O’Connor have a nibble inside the box.

Kidderminster were offering little in attack as Rovers looked in rude health.

The in-form Kurtis Guthrie was a toe-away from connecting with a crisp Jennings cross.

Rovers were quick and incisive on the counter - the pace and skills of Marsh-Brown - a constant threat.

However, Rovers were lacking a final finish. A Frear free-kick saw Aarran Racine head the ball back across the six-yard box with nobody on hand to administer a touch.

Rovers continued on the front-foot. Rob Sinclair picked out the leaping Guthrie, who glanced a header towards the bottom corner only for Alex Palmer to deny him with a strong glove. The resulting Frear corner saw Jennings nod over.

Rovers blew a chance to go 1-0 up. A delightful Marsh-Brown cross saw O’Connor get his feet in a tangle as he shaped to shoot.

Rovers were dealt a blow on 39 minutes. Midfield conductor Sinclair limped off to be replaced by Kelly.

Kidderminster started to pose a threat. A swift 54th minute break saw Aman Verma release the dangerous Adam Dawson, who drew a plunging save from Jonny Maxted.

Guthrie responded as he drilled wide from the edge of the box.

On 57 minutes former Forest Green favourite Reece Styche entered the fray for Kiddy.

Despite a bright start from the Aggborough outfit it was the early season pacesetters who took the lead just after the hour.

Frear’s neat cut-back fell to Marsh-Brown, who finished with clinical aplomb on 64 minutes.

Rovers were rocking and made it 2-0 seven minutes later.

Sub Parkin took a minute to make his mark as he beat Palmer to David Pipe’s deep free-kick to glance home just inside the area.

O’Connor was a whisker away from an 86th minute third.

Sam Wedgbury’s turn switched play across the pitch for the lurking Parkin, who cut the ball across the box for O’Connor to hit a crisp strike that Palmer did well to glove away.
