THE draw at Wrexham posed this question. One point gained or two points lost?

We will have differing views about this. Some will remember the late surge and the brave equaliser. Others will remember the first half dominance and the lost opportunities to make the game safe.

Usually, a point won at Wrexham - all would be well, but with Cheltenham surging onwards and upwards, the two lost take on a sad significance.

Two aspects need to be studied. Ady loves 1-0 wins. So do I, but surely 2-0 wins are better? Do the team share the Ady's opinion? This could be dangerous if they do because one-goal is never enough. When on top go for the jugular! Put the game out of reach. This did not happen on Saturday and the price was paid.

The other aspect is demonstrated by these statistics. 15 free-kicks conceded, four yellow cards and a red.

There may have been refereeing mistakes but disciplinary misdemeanours will hurt sooner or later.

Cards of course mean suspensions, Aarran Racine was clearly rusty after his, and now we shall miss action-man Sam Wedgbury, who is perhaps the hardest squad member to replace.

The National League should promote four each season and not just one automatic place and one via the play-off lottery. What is the management of the league doing to change this? I do not hear a whimper.

Wringing hands and saying nothing can be done about this is not an answer. As individuals we can all write letters, sign petitions etc.We deserve better, just as we do from the haphazard fixture list imposed upon us. Six Tuesday games away and just two at home is just one example of wretched scheduling.

Transfer dealings indicate a look to the future with Moore, Jeffery and Jefford signed on, and for next season as well. These three are young men each with a good future. They will take us further forward.

There is more than that to cheer however. The leaving notes written by Aden Baldwin and Paul White indicate their appreciation for all at the club from the chairman down.

These were mature comments from worthy young men, who show professional footballers and our club in a good light.

There was another common factor bursting out of Thursdays post training interviews. Everyone spoke spontaneously about the spirit within the squad.

Ady allows unfettered access to his players, who speak happily and well. It is a privilege to witness, SNJ Ash and his media colleagues at work and more of one to listen to our players, whose hope, spirit and whose attitude are to be commended. Let us hope they take us to the promise land.
