CAINSCROSS enjoyed a narrow win over local rivals Minchinhampton 2s at the weekend in what turned out to be a nail-biting finish.
Cains started strong in the first half, running the ball at every opportunity and great handling helped them cross the line four times in the first half with tries from Jack Rachael, Olly Wood, Adam Carter and Connor Finch.
With two tries converted by Jacob Flight, the half-time score was 24-7 and the visitors already had the bonus-point wrapped up.
The second half was more of a defensive game with Minch having more of the ball and scoring two more tries, which made for a very close typical local derby game.
But in the end Cains held on and secured a five-point win that moves them up into fifth in the Gloucester & District 1 table, whilst Minch sit in third, eight points above Saturday's opponents.
