CAM will be buzzing on Saturday when family and friends host an event in memory of a teenager who was killed.

Skate4Josh, taking place on Saturday, April 20 at Jubilee Park, and was born out of an idea for a memorial to celebrate Josh Hall’s life by those nearest to him.

His family and friends - who describe Josh as happy, kind and positive - wanted to use the anniversary of his death to spread positivity throughout the whole community.

Organisers say they wanted to make sure that the focal point for his memorial event is to bring the community together in a positive way to celebrate and remember him.

Josh's mum Kirsty has thanked the community for their support, adding that they are so proud of the fact it is all in his honour.

She said: "Without the support of the local community and businesses within Cam and Dursley this event would not have been the success it has become year on year.

"As a family this event makes the day so much easier when we look around and see the happiness and positivity that the day brings.

"We are so proud of the fact that this is all in Joshua's honour."

Skate4Josh has evolved from a small idea for a scooter competition to a family event for the whole community.

Last year around 300 people attended the event, including scooter enthusiasts from further afield who wanted to take part in the scooter competition which was sponsored and ran by Rush Skatepark.

This year there will be even more, with another scooter competition sponsored Rush with local skate champion Jordan Sweet running the heats.

There will be a junior, amateur and pro competition and a prize for best trick in each category.

Riders can enter on the day, but will need to supply and wear their own safety equipment.

As well as the competition there will be various food stalls, including ice cream, brownies, candy floss and a BBQ.

The Music Works will be bringing their mobile recording studio so that young people can record a song or DJ.

There will be a penalty shootout challenge, children’s crafts, a bouncy castle, games and other activities including safe space for young people.

The event will take place between 3pm and 7pm.
